Lunchbox
Last year, after my son lost corn, almonds, and carrots, my lunch ideas seemed to fall apart. I told him I’d give him a huge breakfast and a huge snack when he got home from school, but that at school, he’d have more of a snack, because we couldn’t think of many filling things for him to eat: curried chickpeas, grapes, black olives, puffed millet. But this year, some of my friends over at Mothering.com gave me the bright idea of a Thermos. Why didn’t I think of that before? So this year he’s still been having grapes, black olives, and puffed millet. But he’s also having meatsauce over cauliflower, beef stew with sweet potatoes, etc. And he’s loving it, and not coming home starving. My youngest has a Laptop Lunch. So far she’s only had one preschool lunch: maple-sweetened coconut milk yogurt with grapes, potato chips, cucumbers. And she barely ate any of it…. oh well, we’re still trying with her!
